SUMMARY:Friday Night Magic Doubles Commander
DESCRIPTION:After having so much fun with Double Masters\, let’s really double down and play a themed version of The Missing Piece’s favorite format: Commander! This is a Two-Headed Giant event\, so players will form teams of 2 and should have decks with Commanders that were featured in either of the Double Masters sets. Teams will start the game with and shared 60 life and face off against each other in a best-of-1 game each round. Don’t forget! In a Two-Headed Giant game\, you and your teammate take your turns at the same time. You are allowed to show each other your cards and plan your moves with each other\, but you cannot give your teammate mana (unless a card specifically says you can). Each player at the table is counted separately for card effects that mention “each player” or similar language\, so if you cast a spell that deals 2 damage to “each opponent”\, then each teammate on the opposing team takes 2 damage\, and their life total drops by a total of 4. \n5:30pm – Registration begins for players who haven’t already signed up through our website. \n6:00pm – Round 1 begins! There will be two 90 minute rounds. \nAround 9:00pm – Prizes are awarded! Teams that place in 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd will get Booster Packs. Teams that placed in 4th\, 5th\, 6th\, 7th\, and 8th will get Promo Packs\, and all players will get a promotional Magic card and a Missing Pawn card to use at our Piecing It Together events on Sundays.

SUMMARY:Friday Night Magic - Pauper Commander
DESCRIPTION:Many people (including Magic’s own Mark Rosewater) have been attributed to some variation of the the quote\, “restriction breeds creativity”. Let’s put that idea to the test by placing a rarity restriction on our Commander players. In Pauper Commander\, players must build a deck using only cards that have been printed at the common rarity\, which is denoted with a black set symbol on the card. The only exception is their Commander\, which must be a legendary creature (or other legendary card that specifically says it can be your Commander) that has been printed at the uncommon rarity\, which has a silver set symbol. \n5:30pm – Registration begins for any players that did not sign up ahead of time through our website. \n6:00pm – Round 1 begins! There will be two 90 minute rounds. During each round\, players will earn points through an achievement system. A player’s total accumulated points will determine their placing at the end of the event. \nAround 9:00pm – Prizes are awarded. 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place will receive Booster Packs. 4th\, 5th\, 6th\, 7th\, and 8th place will receive Promo Packs. DESCRIPTION:As we’re about to return to the center of the MTG multiverse\, why not celebrate early with a call back to the beginnings of Commander? Players will be required to have their commander be one of the following cards: Nicol Bolas\, Nicol Bolas\, The Ravager\, Arcades Sabboth\, Arcades\, The Strategist \, Chromium\, Chromium\, the Mutable\, Palladia-Mors\, Palladia-Mors\, The Ruiner\, Vaevictus Asmadi\, or Vaevictus Asmadi\, The Dire. This is because when the format was first created\, the only legal commanders were the original 5 Elder Dragons. We will also be playing with the ancient rule of mana burn. This means if you lose any mana by moving to a new step or phase of a turn\, you take 1 point of damage for each mana lost. So choose your draconic ally\, and relive the old days of Elder Dragon Highlander! \n5:30 – Registration begins for players that didn’t register on our website. DESCRIPTION:Join our amazing Magic community in The Missing Piece’s unique format: The Community Cube! In the past\, the cube only had enough cards to facilitate an 8 player draft\, but since the format has received so much positive feedback\, we’ve doubled the cube! Now we can have up to a 16 player draft\, or an 8 player sealed event! \nIn a community cube event\, players take charge of what cards the cube contains\, and it all starts before the event even begins. Rather than being charged an entry fee for the event\, each player will add 11 cards to the cube. These can be from the player’s own collection\, or they can always buy a booster pack and use 11 cards from that. Once the cards are added\, the event plays out like any other Limited format event. \n5:30pm – Registration begins. \n6:00pm – Drafting and Deckbuilding begins. Drafting will begin promptly at 6\, so make sure you arrive with enough time to register and buy any food or drink you may want to have beforehand. \n6:50pm – Pairings and Rounds begin. Since each player added 11 cards to the cube at the beginning\, they also take 11 cards out of the cube at the end of the event.
