SUMMARY:Dungeons & Dragons (for Middle Schoolers)
DESCRIPTION:Every Monday from 3:30p until 7p an experienced Dungeon Master will be running a D&D adventure for players with “little to no experience” in mind. Five (5) players maximum. \nSignups on a first come\, first served basis. \nWhat To Expect: The first thing your middle-schooler will do is create a character at the table right before they start their adventure\, so no pre-generated characters allowed.  All player characters are Human\, all Classes from the Players Handbook\, and no evil characters or character concepts. \nThe DM will guide all players through the procedures of rolling dice and role-playing a character. Every plot will have “PG” themes including heroism\, teamwork\, overcoming adversity\, creative problem-solving\, grace under pressure\, and honor. \nTo Be Ready for the Game: Players are encouraged\, to bring their own dice\, paper (eg. a journal)\, and/or pencils. Players are also encouraged to own a copy of the Player’s Handbook D&D 5th edition. Dice and Player’s Handbooks are available for purchase at The Missing Piece. \nCode of Conduct: The DM will require all players to show respect to everyone in the room\, and will encourage being patient\, listening to others\, and willing collaboration. The DM will not allow abusive language\, derogatory terms\, or “I was just joking” aimed at anyone in the room\, (although monsters and villains are fair game.) The DM will base all adventures in the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition world. The use of violence\, dishonesty\, conniving\, and magic allowed only in role play (& roll play). The DM may or may not give second chances. \nPlayers are required to have all cell phones\, tablets\, & laptops turned off during gameplay. \nThe phone number of a parent (or responsible adult) is required by the DM prior to the game starting. A parent is required to indicate if a minor child is or is not allowed to walk home unescorted from the shop. \n

DESCRIPTION:As we’re about to return to the center of the MTG multiverse\, why not celebrate early with a call back to the beginnings of Commander? Players will be required to have their commander be one of the following cards: Nicol Bolas\, Nicol Bolas\, The Ravager\, Arcades Sabboth\, Arcades\, The Strategist \, Chromium\, Chromium\, the Mutable\, Palladia-Mors\, Palladia-Mors\, The Ruiner\, Vaevictus Asmadi\, or Vaevictus Asmadi\, The Dire. This is because when the format was first created\, the only legal commanders were the original 5 Elder Dragons. We will also be playing with the ancient rule of mana burn. This means if you lose any mana by moving to a new step or phase of a turn\, you take 1 point of damage for each mana lost. So choose your draconic ally\, and relive the old days of Elder Dragon Highlander! \n5:30 – Registration begins for players that didn’t register on our website. This is also a great time to grab some food and drinks while you’re waiting for the event to begin. \n6:00pm – Rounds begin! There will be two 90 minute rounds\, during which\, players will compete for achievement points. SUMMARY:Dungeons & Dragons (for Middle Schoolers)
DESCRIPTION:Every Monday from 3:30p until 7p an experienced Dungeon Master will be running a D&D adventure for players with “little to no experience” in mind. Five (5) players maximum. \nSignups on a first come\, first served basis. \nWhat To Expect: The first thing your middle-schooler will do is create a character at the table right before they start their adventure\, so no pre-generated characters allowed.  All player characters are Human\, all Classes from the Players Handbook\, and no evil characters or character concepts. \nThe DM will guide all players through the procedures of rolling dice and role-playing a character. Every plot will have “PG” themes including heroism\, teamwork\, overcoming adversity\, creative problem-solving\, grace under pressure\, and honor. \nTo Be Ready for the Game: Players are encouraged\, to bring their own dice\, paper (eg. a journal)\, and/or pencils. Players are also encouraged to own a copy of the Player’s Handbook D&D 5th edition. Dice and Player’s Handbooks are available for purchase at The Missing Piece. \nCode of Conduct: The DM will require all players to show respect to everyone in the room\, and will encourage being patient\, listening to others\, and willing collaboration. The DM will not allow abusive language\, derogatory terms\, or “I was just joking” aimed at anyone in the room\, (although monsters and villains are fair game.) The DM will base all adventures in the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition world. The use of violence\, dishonesty\, conniving\, and magic allowed only in role play (& roll play). SUMMARY:Friday Night Magic - Pauper Commander
DESCRIPTION:Many people (including Magic’s own Mark Rosewater) have been attributed to some variation of the the quote\, “restriction breeds creativity”. Let’s put that idea to the test by placing a rarity restriction on our Commander players. In Pauper Commander\, players must build a deck using only cards that have been printed at the common rarity\, which is denoted with a black set symbol on the card. The only exception is their Commander\, which must be a legendary creature (or other legendary card that specifically says it can be your Commander) that has been printed at the uncommon rarity\, which has a silver set symbol. \n5:30pm – Registration begins for any players that did not sign up ahead of time through our website. \n6:00pm – Round 1 begins! There will be two 90 minute rounds. During each round\, players will earn points through an achievement system. A player’s total accumulated points will determine their placing at the end of the event. \nAround 9:00pm – Prizes are awarded. 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place will receive Booster Packs. 4th\, 5th\, 6th\, 7th\, and 8th place will receive Promo Packs. All participants will also get a promotional Magic card\, and a Missing Pawn card they can use during our Piecing It Together events on Sundays.

DESCRIPTION:Join in the fun as The Missing Piece’s welcoming Magic community drafts and modifies the in-shop cube! Instead of an entry fee for the event\, players bring 11 cards to add to the Community Cube before the draft begins. \n5:30pm – Registration begins. \n6:00pm – Drafting and Deckbuilding begins. Drafting will begin promptly at 6\, so make sure you arrive with enough time to register and buy any food or drink you may want to have beforehand. \n6:50pm – Pairings and Rounds begin. There will be three 50 minute rounds. \nAround 9:45pm – Prizes are awarded! All participants will get to take 11 cards from the cards they drafted during the event\, and can expect to receive an additional promotional Magic card*. 1st place\, however\, will get to look through the entire cube to select their prizes. DESCRIPTION:A theme so nice\, we played it twice! Come on down and play a themed version of The Missing Piece’s favorite format: Commander! This is a Two-Headed Giant event\, so players will form teams of 2 and should have decks with Commanders that were featured in either of the Double Masters sets. Teams will start the game with a shared 60 life and face off against each other in a best-of-1 game each round. Don’t forget! In a Two-Headed Giant game\, you and your teammate take your turns at the same time. You are allowed to show each other your cards and plan your moves with each other\, but you cannot give your teammate mana (unless a card specifically says you can). Each player at the table is counted separately for card effects that mention “each player” or similar language\, so if you cast a spell that deals 2 damage to “each opponent”\, then each teammate on the opposing team takes 2 damage\, and their life total drops by a total of 4. \n5:30pm – Registration begins for players who haven’t already signed up through our website. \n6:00pm – Round 1 begins! DESCRIPTION:Every Monday from 3:30pm until 7:00pm\, an experienced Dungeon Master will be running one-shot D&D adventures for players with “little to no experience.” Five (5) players maximum. \nSignups on a first come\, first served basis. \nWhat To Expect: The DM will cover all the basic procedures of rolling dice and walk players through role-playing a character. The DM will aim every story to “PG” themes including heroism\, teamwork\, overcoming adversity\, creative problem-solving\, grace under pressure\, and honor. The DM will require all players to show respect to everyone in the room\, and will be encouraging being patient\, listening to others\, and willingly collaborating. The DM will not allow abusive language\, derogatory terms\, or “I was just joking” aimed at anyone in the room\, (although monsters and villains are fair game.) The DM will be basing all in-game races\, classes\, rules\, and mechanics on the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition books. The use of violence\, dishonesty\, conniving\, and magic allowed only in role play. The DM may or may not give second chances. \nTo Be Ready for the Game: The phone number of a parent (or responsible adult) is required prior to the game starting for minor children. A parent is required to indicate if a minor child is allowed to walk home unescorted from the game shop. Players are required to have all cell phones\, tablets\, & laptops turned off during gameplay. \nPlayers are encouraged\, to bring their own dice\, paper (ie. a journal)\, and/or pencils. Players are also encouraged to own a copy of the Player’s Handbook D&D 5th edition.   All of these supplies are available for purchase at The Missing Piece. \n

DESCRIPTION:Summer is at our doorstep\, and what better way to celebrate than to get away to a tropical island full of beautiful mountains\, lush jungles\, thriving wetlands and sandy beaches?  Wait\, what’s happening?  There are ships on the shoreline. Invaders from far off lands are exploring the island\, ravaging the land\, building towns and cities\, and threatening the peaceful indigenous people of the island. They must be driven away at all costs! \nSpirit Island is a fully cooperative game where players take on the roles of minor nature spirits fighting to repel determined invaders from settling their beautiful island.  Everyone wins or loses together as a team.  In short\, it’s the polar opposite of the massively popular Catan. \nJoin us and learn to play the game\, or if you already know how\, meet new friends to help you defend your lands!  We’re playing every Saturday this month from noon to 4pm\, and it’s completely free to join in on the fun.  If you love the game\, great news for you: it’ll be 10% off all month as our Game of the Month special!
